Volkswagen Beetle convertible 1977
Our car:
Our white Beetle is a piece of the last series produced in Germany, after that others were produced for more than 15 years in Argentina and Brazil, easily recognizable by the position of the front arrows built in the bumper and by the rear writing positioned on the engine hood that carries the model number “1303”, and no longer “Volkswagen”. Owned by us since 2016, reluctantly sold by its previous and only owner, it has not undergone any restoration as it has always been pampered and lovingly cared for. Over the years, it has been repainted respecting the original livery and color code, Volkswagen L 90 E. The engine and the entire mechanics were still in excellent condition and have been revised and serviced to guarantee excellent reliability. Historically it has about 170,000 km on the clock. Like all the cars that we offer, It is also registered and certified at the Italian Historical Automotor Club (ASI).
History:
The Volksvagen Beetle has 21,529,464 units produced, a production that goes from 1939 to 2003. Ferdinad Porsche accepted the challenge that Adolf Hitler launches:
- capability of transporting 5 people or 3 soldiers and a machine gun
- consume 7 litres per 100 km, driving over 100km/h
The Porsche engineer developed the "people's machine" (Volkswagen), an economical and robust vehicle. Self-supporting frame, cantilever air cooled Boxer 4-cylinder engine and rear wheel drive. The Beetle will be the development basis for future Porsche cars.
Production began after the end of the Second World War, and over the years various structural and aesthetic changes have been made, which however do not distort the car, making it remain always clearly identifiable, above all due to its particular rounded shape.
Even today, seeing it drive by gives joy because of its forms, but those who have had the pleasure of owning one, will also remember it for its qualities of solidity, reliability and safety. In the various countries where it has spread, it is called in different ways: the Beetle in Italy; Beetle in the Anglo-Saxon countries; Kaafer in Germany; Fusca in Brazil.
